Dunkman Rules & Scoring
Dunkman introduces a scoring system designed to reward the complete athlete, combining creativity, power, precision, and performance under pressure. Every dunk is evaluated using a structured, transparent model that brings consistency and credibility to the sport.
How Scoring Works
Each dunk is scored on a 0 to 10 scale across seven categories, with weighted importance placed on the most critical elements of performance:
- 01Difficulty
- 02Execution
- 03Creativity and Originality
- 04Power and Clean Finish
- 05Vertical Leap
- 06Completion (Attempts)
- 07Crowd Reaction
Judges score each category in 0.5 point increments, and the weighted total produces the final score.
Judging Format
A panel of five judges evaluates every dunk.
To ensure fairness and eliminate outliers:
- The highest and lowest scores are removed
- The remaining three scores are averaged
- The final score is capped at 10
Attempts Matter
Dunkman rewards athletes who deliver under pressure.
Each dunker has 90 seconds and three attempts to complete their dunk:
| 1st Attempt | 10.00 |
| 2nd Attempt | 6.67 |
| 3rd Attempt | 3.33 |
| Miss All Attempts | 0 |
A perfect score of 10 can only be achieved if the dunk is completed on the first attempt.
Missed Dunk Scoring
If a dunk is not completed after three attempts, it is still evaluated, but only on elements that can be judged without a make.
