Marlow Gilmore Jr. Bio
Marlow Gilmore Jr. has built his dunking identity around one thing: flair. Standing 6 foot 6 with a 48-inch vertical leap, the South Carolina native combines explosive athleticism with a smooth one foot takeoff style that has become his trademark.
Born in Orangeburg and raised in nearby Norway, South Carolina, Gilmore first dunked at just 12 years old during a game. From that moment on, he knew he had a unique gift above the rim. His earliest dunking memories include throwing down five tomahawk dunks in a middle school game, a performance that hinted at the athlete he would eventually become.
Inspired by Vince Carter, Gilmore developed a style built on distance, creativity, and showmanship. Signature dunks such as the Fake Eastbay, Reverse Eastbay, and Free Throw Line Windmill have helped establish him as one of the sport’s most exciting one-foot jumpers. While he has already developed an impressive arsenal, he continues chasing one of dunking’s ultimate accomplishments: a free throw line 360.
Gilmore believes many people overlook the importance of flair when evaluating dunks. For him, a great dunk is not just about completing the movement. It is about how it looks, how far the athlete travels, and the reaction it creates. He feels fans should pay closer attention to style and distance, two qualities that often separate memorable dunks from ordinary ones.
His motivation is clear. Gilmore wants to become one of the greatest one-foot dunkers the sport has ever seen. Guided by the belief that “If I believe it, I can do it,” he approaches every competition with confidence and a desire to continue improving.
Now, Gilmore enters Dunkman with an opportunity he has dreamed about for years. As part of the world’s first professional league dedicated to dunking, he sees a chance to grow the sport, open new doors, and compete against the best athletes in the world. His long term vision is to travel the globe as a professional dunker while continuing to push the limits of what a one foot jumper can achieve.
When his career is over, Gilmore hopes fans remember him for exactly what he set out to become: one of the greatest one foot dunkers they have ever seen.
