Isaiah Rivera

For the past decade, Isaiah Rivera has been widely regarded as one of the most gifted and technically skilled dunkers in the world. Known as the “Puerto Rican Airbender,” Rivera has built a career around making impossible dunks look routine.

Born in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, and now residing in Davenport, Florida, Rivera first dunked at age 16 in Sandy, Utah. Inspired by watching his uncle dunk while they played basketball together, he became obsessed with mastering the craft and pushing the limits of what could be done above the rim.

Standing 6 foot 2 with a reported 50.5 inch vertical leap and a remarkable 40-inch standing vertical, Rivera has developed one of the deepest repertoires in competitive dunking. His signature 360 Behind the Back Between the Legs dunk remains one of the most difficult dunks ever completed, and he is still chasing an even more ambitious goal: the 360 Double Between the Legs.

Rivera’s résumé places him among the elite competitors in the history of the sport. His accomplishments include winning Dunk Battle 2022, the 2019 Quai 54 Dunk Contest, the 2022 Venice Beach Dunk Contest, and two FIBA World Tour Masters championships. He is also the only person in the world to successfully complete a 360 Behind the Back Between the Legs dunk, a feat that showcases the combination of athleticism and technique that defines his style.

Inspired by Air Up There, Rivera believes what separates him from other elite dunkers is his ability to combine world class jumping ability with elite dunk technique. He is passionate about improving the sport and believes judges often struggle to accurately evaluate difficulty. In his view, a truly great dunk combines extreme difficulty, incredible elevation, and a powerful finish.

Rivera approaches competition with intensity and discipline. His biggest motivation is simple: winning. Whether in business, athletics, or everyday life, he constantly pushes himself to reach his full potential. His favorite quote from Socrates reflects that mindset, emphasizing the pursuit of excellence through discipline and self-improvement.

Now, Rivera enters Dunkman with an opportunity he has been waiting for since childhood. He believes the creation of the world’s first professional dunking league is a dream come true not just for himself, but for the entire sport. His vision of success is winning championships while helping Dunkman grow into a league that thrives for decades to come.
