At just 5 foot 10, Dillan McCarthy has built a reputation for doing things that seem impossible. Known by the nickname “Alien,” McCarthy combines extraordinary leaping ability with a fearless approach to dunking that has quickly made him one of the sport’s most exciting young athletes.

Born in Sayre, Pennsylvania and now living in Lockport, New York, McCarthy first dunked at age 16 at a local YMCA. What began as a challenge among friends quickly turned into something much bigger when he threw down his first dunk on his very first attempt. From that moment forward, he became obsessed with seeing how far he could push his athletic potential.

Standing just 5 foot 10 with a 52-inch vertical leap, McCarthy has already achieved something few athletes ever will. His signature Elbow Dunk has become his calling card, while the Eastbay Elbow remains the next milestone he hopes to conquer. Inspired by Jordan Kilganon, McCarthy has embraced a style built around explosiveness, power, and jaw dropping elevation.

McCarthy believes the technical details of dunking are often overlooked. He feels judges and fans sometimes focus only on the final result rather than appreciating the difficulty, height, and precision required to complete elite dunks. For him, a great dunk combines technicality, clean execution, and power.

One of McCarthy’s greatest motivations is proving that age does not define success. As one of the youngest professional dunkers in the world, he embraces the pressure that comes with competing against athletes who have far more experience. Guided by the belief that manifesting your goals helps turn them into reality, he is constantly looking for ways to improve and raise the bar higher.

Now, McCarthy enters Dunkman with an opportunity few athletes his age have ever received. As a founding competitor in the world’s first professional league dedicated to dunking, he sees a chance to showcase his abilities on the biggest stage the sport has ever created.
